March 2026, Right Now
- March 23 (Tonight), SU Women’s Basketball vs No. 1 UConn: NCAA Tournament Second Round. ESPN2, 9 PM ET. The Orange knocked off Iowa State Saturday and now face the top seed. Don’t miss it.
- March 27, CNY Women’s Summit: The Oncenter, Syracuse. 500 professionals, full-day keynotes, panels, and networking. Fifth annual event. Tickets required.
- March 28, Hoppy Saturday at Harvey’s Garden: Easter Bunny photos, face painting, balloon animals. Free family event on East Water Street, Syracuse.
- March 28-31, Salt City Cluster Spring Dog Show: NYS Fairgrounds. Over 3,500 dogs competing across four days of conformation shows. Open to the public.
April 2026

- April, Onondaga Lake Park Spring Programming: Walking trails, outdoor fitness, and the lakeside paths open for the season. One of CNY’s best free resources.
- April, CNY Regional Farmers Markets Reopen: The Central New York Regional Market on Park Street ramps up for the season. Fresh local produce, vendors, and the energy of spring in full swing.
- April, Rosamond Gifford Zoo Spring Events: Spring programming including family events, new exhibits, and extended weekend hours.
May 2026
- May (TBD), Lilac Festival, Rochester: One of the best day trips from Syracuse, over 500 lilac varieties in Highland Park, free admission, food vendors and live music across the weekend.
- May, Memorial Day Weekend (May 23-25): CNY’s unofficial start to summer. Parks, events, and the first major outdoor weekend of the season across Onondaga, Madison, and Cayuga counties.
- May, Destiny USA Outdoor Programming: The region’s largest mall opens up outdoor dining, entertainment, and seasonal events.
- May, Local Golf Courses Open: Tee times open up across CNY. Notable courses: Timber Banks, Drumlins, Radisson Greens, Arrowhead Golf Club.
June 2026
- June, Syracuse Jazz Fest: Onondaga Lake Park. One of the best free festivals in Upstate New York, multiple stages, national and regional jazz acts, food vendors, waterfront setting.
- June, Taste of Syracuse: Clinton Square, downtown Syracuse. Two days of food, music, and tens of thousands of people. One of the city’s signature summer events.
- June, Juneteenth Celebrations: Community events, programming, and celebrations across Syracuse and Onondaga County.
- June, Pride Month: Syracuse Pride events, parade, and community programming throughout the month.
- June, Outdoor Concert Season Begins: The St. Joseph’s Health Amphitheater at Lakeview and other CNY venues kick off the summer concert lineup.
July 2026
- July 4, Independence Day Fireworks: Onondaga Lake Park hosts one of the region’s premier fireworks displays. Arrive early, this one draws a crowd.
- July, Inner Harbor Aquarium Opening (SUMMER 2026): The $100M, 80,000 sq ft aquarium at Inner Harbor is slated to open this summer. 250+ species, 600,000 gallons, and a transformational new anchor for downtown Syracuse. This is the big one.
- July, Finger Lakes Wine Country Events: Peak season for Seneca Lake, Cayuga Lake, and the surrounding wine trails, an easy day trip from anywhere in CNY.
- July, CNY Folk Art Show and other summer festivals: Check local listings as dates are confirmed throughout the summer.
August 2026
- August 21, September 1, New York State Fair: The biggest annual event in Central New York. The Great New York State Fair at the State Fairgrounds in Syracuse, 13 days of food, concerts, animals, rides, and the electric atmosphere that defines CNY summers. Plan accordingly.
- August, Summer Concert Series Final Stretch: The last major weekends of the outdoor concert season before Labor Day.
- August, Back to School Season: Syracuse University move-in typically late August, the city energy shifts as students return.
Year-Round Destinations Opening or Expanding in 2026
- INSPYRE Innovation Hub: Now open, 90,000 sq ft, the largest business incubator in New York State. Tours and programming available year-round.
- Inner Harbor Development: The aquarium is the anchor, but the broader Inner Harbor waterfront continues to develop as a destination district.
- New Restaurants Opening Across CNY: Steigs Grillhouse in Manlius, new concepts across the city, 2026 is a strong year for the local dining scene.
