More than a dozen new restaurants, cafes and businesses have opened across Syracuse and the surrounding area since late 2025, according to Visit Syracuse and local news outlets. Several more are under construction. Here is who opened, where they are and what they serve.
Restaurants and Bars
Erma’s Bistro, 325 S. Clinton St., Latoya Ricks opened Syracuse’s first sit-down Jamaican restaurant after six years running Erma’s Island at Salt City Market. Full menu of oxtail, jerk chicken and other Jamaican staples, with a full-service bar. The space formerly housed Modern Malt, per the Daily Orange.
Mr. Pho, 216 Walton St., Vietnamese restaurant in Armory Square serving pho, banh mi, spring rolls and stir-fried dishes, per Visit Syracuse.

Crooked Cattle, 290 W. Jefferson St., Matt Beach, owner of Ale ‘n’ Angus Pub, opened this bar and sandwich shop in Armory Square in the former Starbucks space. The draw is a recreation of the Clark’s Ale House roast beef sandwich. Open Tuesday through Sunday, per This Is CNY.
809 Lounge and Restaurant, South Warren Street, Dominican and Puerto Rican cuisine downtown. Dinner only, 4-10 p.m., per Visit Syracuse.
Aurora Brewing Company, Tipperary Hill, A Finger Lakes brewery that took over the former Now & Later building, serving craft beers and pub food seven days a week, per Visit Syracuse.
Ruby’s Cheesesteaks & Fries, 2812 James St., Philly-style cheesesteak sandwiches in the Eastwood neighborhood, per Visit Syracuse.
Doomsday Pasta, Salt City Market, Handmade pasta from stone-milled flour with a rotating seasonal menu, per Visit Syracuse.

Pausa Coffee, 246 E. Water St., European-style cafe by day, cocktail lounge by night. Opened September 2025, per Visit Syracuse.
The Society, 300 E. Washington St., Cafe and juice bar by Tammy Ly serving coffee, cold-pressed juices and smoothies, per Visit Syracuse.

Major Developments
Syracuse Aquarium, 454 Solar St., This $100 million project at the Inner Harbor is expected to open in 2026 as an 80,000-square-foot facility with aquatic exhibits, per Visit Syracuse.
INSPYRE Innovation Hub, 235 Harrison St., A 90,000-square-foot center for entrepreneurship with coworking space and a makerspace, per Visit Syracuse.
