SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Spring events are heating up in Central New York as Syracuse’s lacrosse and track teams gear up for a busy weekend.

The Syracuse men’s and women’s lacrosse teams are set to play doubleheaders at the JMA Wireless Dome on Saturday, March 28. The women’s team will face off against the University of Pittsburgh at 12 p.m., followed by the men’s team taking on Duke University at 3 p.m. Expect heavy traffic around the Dome and on I-81 as fans flock to support their teams.

Track and Field Season Opens

In addition to lacrosse, the Syracuse track and field team will kick off its outdoor season this weekend. The team is scheduled to compete at the annual Cornell Spring Invite in Ithaca on Saturday. Athletes are eager to showcase their skills after a strong indoor season, which was highlighted by several personal bests.

Farmers Markets and Community Events

As the weather warms, local farmers markets are returning to the area. The Eastwood Farmers Market will open on Saturday, March 28, at the corner of James Street and Burnet Avenue, offering fresh produce and local goods. This marks the beginning of the spring market season, providing residents with access to fresh, locally-sourced products.

With the Onondaga Creekwalk now open, families and individuals are encouraged to enjoy the scenic views and outdoor activities along the water. The warmer temperatures are expected to bring more people out to enjoy the natural beauty of the area.

What to Watch For

As the weekend progresses, keep an eye on traffic updates around the JMA Wireless Dome and the Eastwood area due to the influx of visitors. Additionally, track and field results from the Cornell Spring Invite will be available on Sunday, providing insights into the team’s performance as they embark on the outdoor season.
