What Is New for 2026
This is the stuff most guides miss. The state has poured serious money into the fairgrounds.

$35 Million in Capital Upgrades
Governor Hochul’s FY2026 budget included $35 million in capital investments at the fairgrounds, the largest single-year investment in recent memory. The money covers:
- Stage upgrades at Chevy Court and Suburban Park for better concert experiences
- Expo Center renovations to support year-round festivals and music events beyond the 13-day fair
- Milk Bar rebuild: A $3.7 million renovation will expand the square footage, install new equipment, and add strawberry milk alongside the classic white and chocolate. The Milk Bar has served $0.25 glasses of milk for decades. It served 293,285 cups in 2025.
New FFA Building
A brand-new Future Farmers of America building is expected to be complete for the 2026 fair, part of a $34.7 million agricultural facilities improvement project announced in 2022. Previous phases already delivered a new goat show space, new sheep barn and wool center, and new horse barn.
Expanded Taste NY
The Taste NY program has consolidated into the Horticulture Building with a new centerpiece: the New York State Tasting Yard. It includes a mural called “Sip the State” by artist Caroline Corrigan, an indoor seating area with Adirondack chairs, and an educational seminar room. Over 290 unique products from 85+ vendors across New York’s 10 regions. The program has generated over $100 million in economic impact since launching in 2013.
The Concert Lineup
The 2026 Chevrolet Music Series features 41 national recording acts across two stages, all free with admission.

The Midway

The western end of the fairgrounds past the food vendors. 50+ rides including a Ferris wheel, funhouses, and every spinning contraption designed to separate you from your corn dog. Unlimited ride wristbands are available for purchase.
The Agriculture

The Dairy Cattle Birthing Center delivered 29 calves during the 2025 fair (425+ total since inception). Agriculture Career Day drew 315 youth leaders, an 87% increase. 350+ competitive categories. Over 700 pounds of produce donated from the Voice of the Farmer Garden. The FFA members ran activities for the next generation of farmers.
The Stuff Most People Miss
- Sky River Butterfly Exhibit inside the Horticulture Building. Walk through a room of live butterflies from around the world. Hold a feeding stick. Oddly peaceful for a place where people eat 7 tons of donuts.
- NYS Police Exhibit: Two buildings and a steel tower where troopers demonstrate rappelling. Includes a texting-while-driving simulator and a forensic crime scene area.
- $1 Baked Potato: A whole baked potato with all the fixings for a dollar. It exists. Find it in the agriculture area.
- Sensory-Friendly Day: New accessibility initiative with a dedicated sensory room for visitors who need a quieter space.
- The Butter Sculpture: Unveiled opening day in the Dairy Products Building. Made from 800 pounds of butter. Last year’s theme was Wizard of Oz for the book’s 125th anniversary. The 2026 theme has not been announced. Get there early because the line wraps around the building.
